Well, I haven't posted anything since I wrote about my experience with Haniel (of Venus) recently. There would be a reason. That shit stirred me up. It stirred me up in a great and a terrible way.
I did some work with Mercury and Sol which was interesting, profound, and I learned a great bit -- especially from Michael, he was talkative in that evocation.
But my work with Venus has really just thrown me off and gotten me out of sorts. Looking at it now, if there is one area more than any other that I have struggled in my entire life, it is most definitely the vices and problems within the realm of Venus. Not saying that Venus is bad, but I obviously have let that aspect get way out of whack in my sphere. I never realized that the initiation and purification process would be such a battle in the Working. I had the idea that somehow, after having my vision, I would kind of wake up anew.
Oh, hell no I didn't.
I'll post more later. I have some exciting things coming up from a few directions and some definite Work to do.

ReplyDeleteYour work with these sphere initiations is much more advanced than anything I've ever attempted, so I'm particularly interested in seeing how that is turning out for you. You might actually talk with your HOGD friends about what sort of work is best to do and when. They might recommend waiting on that until you've worked on some other material first. Alternatively, they might encourage what you're doing and offer some practical advice that would be helpful. Frater A.I.T. in particular would probably have some helpful insights for you.
Actually, to be totally honest, the system of Angelic evocation I'm using is fairly simple. Long before I got involved with the Golden Dawn, I was learning under Frater RO -- I kind of bumped into him on a forum and we became friends. He's been teaching me directly for a couple years now, and so I've kind of got a lot going on at once -- I'm doing Angelic Evocation, the B.O.T.A. coursework, GD neophyte work, as well as RO's new course, "Acquiring the Supernatural Assistant". It's a lot of work, but it's well rounded enough to get me advancing in different areas.
ReplyDeleteSince the system of Angel magick I'm using is a modernization by RO of older magick from Agrippa and Trithemius Trismegistos, I treat it as a totally separate system of magick and area of growth than my GD stuff. The GD will introduce me in time to Enochian Magick, which has a totally different feel and function than what I'm doing -- and is actually quite a bit more complex than what I'm doing.
It's really a simple evocation, meditating until I establish contact, and asking the Angel to a)reveal to me more info about their sphere and initiate me into it.
So far, I've worked on initiation with Raphael of Mercury, Haniel of Venus, and Michael of Sol. My venus work has thrown me all over the place, from sexual to addictive impulses, it's a crazy mess. Venus is certainly an interesting sphere and perhaps I should have thought twice before working with it first.

I'm a little concerned about the overlap between the GD stuff you'll be learning and the Angelic stuff you're doing. I understand your motivations, but I think you're going well-beyond where the GD takes their members, and you're doing it directly with the Intelligences of the Spheres. They tend to filter it through their initiates, muting and blunting some of the forces. Twisting and tainting it too, if they haven't integrated the forces properly themselves, imo. Dangerous stuff, that human initiation.
but you'll defnitiely learn more about Kabala, qabala, and cabala from the GD and BOTA than you'll ever learn from me. :)
RO -- I see what you mean. But I think you see my intentions for what they are.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I expect to learn greater things about the Angelic forces and conjure magick in general from you -- I've learned a great deal more from you in those areas than any book I've found on the GD.
I also expect to learn more about the HGA/Supernatural Assistant from your instruction and experience than from the direction of the GD -- I know that at a certain point, attaining that is important in the GD, but I believe I'll benefit more from you than them in that regard.
I have an urge to understand the Qabalah and the Tarot very well and to be able to use and understand both quite fluently, so those would be my main motivations for my GD and BOTA work. And honestly, I want the experience of physical initiation -- I thoroughly believe it will do something special for me. And beside that, I'd like to learn more about Enochian, and from more than DuQuette's book or others books alone. I'm not sure what to expect of it, but I do intend to use it in time and see what I can gain or learn from it.
But, honestly, I'm concerned for myself too, haha... I've bit off a good bit of stuff to work on. I guess I'm just interested in too many subjects for my own good.
