New and exciting things are happening over the next few months, some surprising, some long anticipated. I have received official word that I will be taking my Neophyte and Zelator initiations in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn late this upcoming March. It will be quite a long drive to get there, but well worth it, in my opinion. Oh, I can just hear R.O. now... But the truth is, I love the Golden Dawn. (You ever read the Neophyte initiation ceremony? Oh my God, the beauty.) No, it does not possess all the Secret Wisdom and magick of the world, and it is not the one fundamental aspect of my path. A very strong one indeed, but I do not get everything I'm looking to learn and use in just one place...
So, I am also taking Minerval into the O.T.O. late next month! Hopefully I will also get a baptism into Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica and start taking part in some of the Gnostic Masses. I have met several very awesome individuals at Dove and Serpent Oasis who I am proud to call friends, and soon brothers and sisters. People that are doing the Work, are dedicated pursuant practitioners, who have experience in ways I don't and some who lack experience in ways I have.
Moreover, I believe in the power of Initiation. Yes, I've had initiation into the planetary spheres and all that is fine and well, has changed my life, and has brought me to this point. Yes, planetary magick is still the strongest basis for my practice... But there is something profound and powerful about temple initiation conducted by experienced hands with proper authority that cannot be found elsewhere.
I am also interested in what knowledge comes with the degrees of the O.T.O. as Crowley blended Mysteries and schools of thought as well as techniques that are totally foreign to me. It's those things, those unchecked, uninvestigated areas that confirm that there is in fact much to learn from the O.T.O. and Thelema, and much to learn from the central texts thereof.
Therefore, I am quite excited.
